The Competence Center at Constantia Teich
Constantia Flexibles prides itself in staying on the cutting edge of packaging technology – and that requires sophisticated equipment and expertise. Thanks to hotbeds of innovation like our Competence Center for Aluminum Foil and Foil Laminates at Constantia Teich, we pioneer the packaging of tomorrow with analytical tests, research and development as well as pilot production lines.
At Constantia Flexibles, we know that we have to stay ahead to get ahead. That means not only investing in R&D, but also offering specialist services to clients pursuing their own innovations. This was the motivation behind our Competence Center for Aluminum Foil and Foil Laminates, which officially opened at Constantia Teich in Austria in 2012. A total of 40 highly skilled staff are employed at the Competence Center to conduct research on packaging innovations. “We work on our own proprietary research,” reports Martin Kornfeld, Vice President R&D Competence Center for Aluminum Foil and Foil Laminates, “or partner with clients and universities to solve today’s most exciting technological challenges.” This includes pilot lines to work out the manufacturing kinks in novel packaging solutions before they go into mainstream production.
One of the Competence Center’s key offerings is our analytical and testing service, which demands equipment and expertise too specialized and costly for the average OEM to maintain – like the Extractables Service we launched in 2019. To identify potentially harmful substances released by packaging materials, our experts conduct sophisticated physical, mechanical, thermal, optical, and chemical tests on raw materials as well as finished products. “In addition to offering contract testing services,” reports Kornfeld, “future plans include providing a generic set of analytical data upon request – a real time and money saver for our customers!”
