When sunshine turns into energy! New solar power plant to fuel Constantia Patz
To leverage and promote the sustainable use of resources, Constantia Patz invested 185,000 euros in solar energy.
The plant in Loipersbach, Lower Austria, is equipped with 550 solar modules and supplies environmentally friendly electricity equivalent to 55 households per year.
In all Constantia Flexibles projects, economic and environmental aspects have the same priority. This was also the case with the recently completed investment in new production facilities and halls to manufacture flexible packaging for pharmaceutical products under cleanroom conditions at the plant of Constantia Patz in Loipersbach.
The additional power requirement was to be covered as best as possible by alternative forms of energy. Constantia Patz wanted to use solar energy, as the conditions were ideal for constructing a photovoltaic system.
Now, 550 solar modules with an east-west orientation adorn the new halls' 2,000 square meters of roof surface. Annually, it supplies approx. 200,000 kWh of environmentally friendly electricity. It is equivalent to the annual consumption of around 55 households.
Further environmental projects are firmly anchored in the company's strategy and are already in the planning stage; the focus will be on the most efficient use of primary energy.
