Shaping the future of Pharma packaging together in Bologna
Highlights from our Customer Academy in Bologna
As November came to a close, we had the privilege of hosting our Customer Academy in Bologna, bringing together industry experts and stakeholders to discuss the future of pharmaceutical packaging. Over three days, we explored cutting-edge solutions, exchanged valuable insights, and strengthened our collective commitment to innovation and sustainability.
Diving deep into industry insights
The event featured an impressive lineup of speakers and workshop leaders, each contributing valuable insights and expertise. Our VP Sustainability Pharma, Agnieszka van Batavia, opened with a keynote on system thinking in sustainability, presenting a forward-thinking approach to addressing complex packaging challenges. She also led a workshop on Low Carbon Raw Materials, exploring how innovative materials can significantly reduce the industry’s carbon footprint.
Alan Campbell from The LCA Centre followed with a comprehensive session on life cycle assessments, providing a practical framework for evaluating and improving the environmental impact of packaging solutions. Experts like Roba led an engaging session on aluminum recycling, highlighting the critical role of material recovery in creating a circular economy for pharmaceutical packaging.
Further workshops included our Head of Regulatory Affairs Pharma Katharina Wohlmuth on Regulations & Legislations, offering insights into the latest developments such as PPWR, nitrosamines, and global standards like USP, EP, and CFDA. Our VP Technical Organization and Innovation Pharma Jörg Adrian explored innovative approaches in Sustainable Blisters, and our Head of PEC Laminates Roberto Martin delved into strategies for advancing Sustainable Laminates.
Together, these sessions provided attendees with a comprehensive understanding of the latest trends, challenges, and solutions driving sustainable innovation in pharmaceutical packaging.
Collaboration for real-world solutions
One of the highlights of the academy was the panel discussion, where experts from Constantia Flexibles, IMA, and KP came together to address the critical challenges in developing sustainable blister packaging. The panel provided an open forum for discussing obstacles such as regulatory complexities, material limitations, and supply chain constraints, while also showcasing strategies and solutions that are already making a difference.
The insights did not end there. Our Market Place session featured partners like Aptar CSP, KP, and Roba, who shared their latest innovations and materials. This collaborative space emphasized how partnerships across the value chain are essential to driving industry progress.
Behind the scenes of innovation
To give attendees a deeper understanding of our operations, we hosted guided tours of our San Prospero plant and IMA’s facilities. These tours provided an up-close look at the advanced technologies and processes that define Constantia’s leadership in sustainable packaging. Our participants left with a greater appreciation for the precision, efficiency, and innovation that underpin our solutions.
