Supporting the call for a UN treaty on plastic pollution
As a global flexible packaging manufacturer we recognize that we have a role in the global effort to solve the issue of plastic leaking into the environment. Constantia Flexibles is taking part in the New Plastics Economy (NPEC) initiative for several years and has signed the NPEC Global Commitment in 2018 (pledging that 100% of our packaging will be recyclable by 2025). Now we support the call on United Nations member states to commit to the development of a global treaty on plastic pollution.
While all businesses have a responsibility to address the challenge of plastic pollution within their own supply chains through increasing reduction, reuse and recycling efforts, a UN treaty is necessary to coordinate stakeholder actions and solve the global plastic pollution crisis at scale.
We are proud to be among a number of leading businesses that have endorsed a corporate manifesto calling for a UN treaty on plastic pollution that would help reduce operational complexity and compliance risk across markets, enable businesses to plan investments, simplify reporting and progress tracking, and coordinate actions across the plastic value chain.
