Think safe, act safe: The importance of an LTI-free workplace
At Constantia Flexibles, we never grow tired of celebrating our HSSE (Health, Safety, Security, and Environment) milestones, especially when they mark extended periods without incidents. Each incident-free period is more than just a number—it is a reflection of our ongoing focus on ensuring that our employees return home safely to their loved ones. These achievements underscore the significance of fostering a strong safety culture, where the well-being of our people remains a top priority. Every day without injury is a step toward a safer workplace and reinforces our goal of "Zero Loss - No Harm."
Understanding LTI
A Lost Time Injury (LTI) is defined as any work-related injury that results in an employee being unable to perform their regular duties for at least one shift. In our industry, where manufacturing processes involve various hazards, maintaining an LTI-free record is crucial for ensuring both the safety of our workforce and the efficiency of our operations.
Why being LTI-free matters
Why is this so important to us? We view LTI as a key metric for measuring our safety performance. Reducing LTIs not only helps improve our safety culture but also lowers costs, boosts employee morale, and enhances our reputation. Achieving low LTI rates requires a concerted effort from all levels of our organization. This includes developing a strong safety culture, identifying, and addressing hazards, encouraging incident reporting and investigation, and continuously monitoring and evaluating safety performance. By prioritizing safety, we foster a safer and more productive work environment for everyone.

The importance of HSSE
We prioritize HSSE for several reasons. Firstly, our employees are our greatest asset, and ensuring their health and safety is crucial for our success and innovation. Secondly, we are dedicated to minimizing our environmental impact to leave a positive legacy for future generations. Integrating HSSE into our core practices builds trust with our employees, customers, and stakeholders. Our principles of "THINK SAFE, ACT SAFE, WORK SAFE, and GO HOME SAFE" guide us towards a more sustainable and secure future.
